When they say "When Texas Freezes Over",,,or is it another place

The weather has been a little different for a few days, but heck, down here we can have all four seasons in one day.

You hardly see any progress with the "hotel", but at least you can see that I have started on the porch that will go along the front of the building.  A fair amount of work has been done on the inside, but you can't see that from this picture.

Below. to the left is the grandkids area; post office, general store,
reading room, art room, etc...they have free roam in this area.

The office, or "writing room" is almost finished.  Just a few more boards and trim and I will be able to "pickle" the ceiling rafters and then put up wains coating then I will be ready to paint the wall.  The finished floor will be last, when I put the floor down in the rest of the building.  Saying that this is a bigger hill to climb that first thought would be an understatement.

Here are a few more photos of work to be done.  The attic  will be two sleeping lofts and the upper center floor will be removed at the last and the center, common area will be vaulted to the roof ridge.

Questions and comments welcome, and actually encouraged...
Thanks, Glenn

  2. glenn, it looks to be about what i hope to one day arrive at as a home. maybe even a little fancier than i'll need. a few bookshelves and there you go. i'm sure you all are going to get a whole lot of quality time happening there.

enjoy the journey to completion too, eh.

  3. I like wainscoting. We put some up in the dining area and the hall of the country house but we have sheetrock walls. You are going to put wainscoting up on those wood plank walls? anyway, you are making fine progress.
